The Talking Strings

The Talking Strings weave original and traditional Griot compositions with improvisation on cello and kora, a West African harp.  Our goal is to bring healing to our audiences by celebrating the universal qualities of nature within music.

Our musical presentations and talks cater to all ages and offer insight into the deep legacy of African history and musical tradition, as well as theory and practice of Western music and classical Indian ragas.  We have presented for universities, colleges, libraries and elementary schools, and have hosted courses on improvisation for groups of music students.

We perform live for audiences big and small, from festivals to intimate events, and we travel easily on flights with Keenan's electric kora.
